Check out last years list too... 07. Brunch on the deck - newspaper, pancakes and bacon....excellent. 06. Ferry to Cromarty and Sunday lunch at Soutars Creek...more food! 05. Camping at Sandwood Bay - the best beach in the world. Didn't make the trip last year but heading there this weekend!!!!!! 04. Enjoy the hammock...imagine palm trees and white powdery sand and then remember you are in Tain. 03. Rock Ness - the annual tradition, FatBoy Slim and Mylo this year....lets hope for the same sun we had last year. 02. Just take time off - haven't had a holiday this year so need to chill!!! 01. Life has gone rushing by this year with work all over the place. A lot of that work has been with DUFI (http://www.dufi-art.blogspot.com) but the photography has been ticking away well too. I guess the big thing over the last month or so is that my little niece Phoebe was diagnosed with neuoblastoma - a rare agressive cancer in children. We have spent a couple of weekends down in Glasgow visiting her as she undergoes chemotherapy in Yorkhill. It kind of puts things into perspective too and the whole family has been moved by the support, thoughts and prayers of people all around the world. Things have gone off with a bang here with work being incredibly busy. As Highland 2007 draws to a close with the celebration of the Old Scottish New Year (12th January) I have been involved in a number of events leading up to this. The main part of this has been completing the ThreeSixFive (http://photos.highland2007.com) photography project. This culminates tonight at Eden Court with a projection of all the images taken by the participants together with the series of portraits I completed as part of this commission. Its a bit of a big do and Alex Salmond will be in attendance to present the camera to the winner of best photo - Jake Threadgould from Gairloch (congrats Jake - did a great job with the camera in Week 12 of the project!) Also this month I have been included in Ag Magazine (http://www.picture-box.com/) (The International Journal of Photographic Art Practice) with a selection of as yet unseen images of my Call Waiting project (a series on Call Centre employees in India). This is a massive honour to be included in such a prestigous magazine - especially when this is its Golden/50th edition. The hope is that I can take this project on in the next year or so and develop this more fully. On Tuesday I will be exhibiting new work as part of my commission for The Other Side of Air. (http://www.theothersideofair.co.uk/) Called Outside/Inside it comprises a series of 3 diptychs titled Thought , Word and Deed that addresses the way we judge on appearance and first impressions...am hoping it gets a reaction and will have them on the website at some point soon. Plenty more to keep me going but am hoping to get into the darkroom in the next few weeks to get some printing done..its been a while and time keeps rushing onwards.... Thought I would be a bit more organised this year but no chance... Between now and next Tuesday have to do 4 portraits (possibly more!) as well as finish off the Christmas shopping. Just not got the time to do everything I would like to get done and thats why I haven't written anything here since August!! Over the last few months things have been busy but good - coming to the end of the ThreeSixFive (http://photos.highland2007.com/) project which will be good but sad too. Its been a great project and have met some really great people from all over the Highlands and Islands. The end of the year doesn't mean the end of things completely though as we are in process of knocking out a publishing deal to get the book of this done. So watch this space!!! Two of the projects I have worked on in the last year have also been prize-winning so its nice to be part of that process too. Inverhouse Distillers (http://www.inverhouse.com/home.php) winning Distiller of the Year 2007 at Icons Of Whisky and Visit Scotland (http://www.visitscotland.com/) won Gold for the Winter White campaign at this year CIPR Pride Awards 2007. Travel have had 2 further trips abroad to Germany (Berlin is a great city and thoroughly recommended) and also Poland (likewise with Kracow). Also managed a trip to Shetland for 4 days doing some portraits and especially loved Fair Isle - feels like you are on the edge of the world there!
